Srinagar, Sep 23 (KNO): Dr. Kaleemullah, an independent candidate from Langate, backed by Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) on Monday denied any alliance or friendly contest in the upcoming elections from the Langate assembly constituency. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Kaleemullah clarified that he is contesting independently with the full backing of Jamaat, and his goal is to win the seat with complete determination. “I have no alliance with any party, nor is there a friendly contest. I am backed by Jamaat only, and I will fight to win this election with my full capacity," he said. He also raised concerns over alleged threats made by political parties, claiming that voters are being intimidated with warnings of jail time if they cast their vote. However, dismissing fears, Dr. Kaleemullah assured the public, “If it had been a jail issue, my nomination form wouldn't have been accepted. I urge people to vote freely without any fear. This is a democratic process, and no harm will come to anyone." Notably, the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) post forging alliance with JeI had earlier suggested a "friendly contest" at Langate. The broader electoral alliance was however, denied by JeI former president, stating that the alliance in South Kashmir remains separate—(KNO)
